Privacy Policy for Words of Winter Last updated: September 7, 2026 Words of Winter ("the app") is developed by Wesley Keetch ("I," "me," "my"). THE SHORT VERSION Your content is yours and stays on your device: every quote and trivia question is bundled with the app, and your data is stored only on your device. There's no account, no login, no analytics, and I don't run any servers. The one place an outside service is involved is the banner ads: they are served by Google's Mobile Ads SDK (currently Google's public test ads), they are requested as non-personalized, and the app never tracks you. Details below. WHAT DATA THE APP TOUCHES, AND WHERE IT STAYS Everything below is stored only in Apple's on-device storage (UserDefaults and SwiftData) on your device. None of it is ever sent to me. - Liked quotes — the quotes you save, so you can find them again. - Game statistics — your trivia scores, streaks, accuracy, and unlocked achievements, so the app can show your progress. - App preferences — your chosen house theme and season filter, so the app remembers your settings. - Ad consent choice — your answer to Google's consent form (where one is required), so the app can honor it. ADVERTISING The app displays banner ads on the Quotes and Game tabs, served by Google's Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob). At the moment these are Google's public test ads only — they earn no revenue and no real ad account is involved — but the SDK is active in every build, so this section applies today, not just in the future. - Non-personalized only. Every ad request explicitly requests non-personalized ads. The app never shows the App Tracking Transparency prompt and never reads your advertising identifier (IDFA). - Consent first. Before any ad is requested, Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) SDK checks whether your region requires an ad-consent choice and, where it does (EEA/UK), shows Google's consent form. Ads are only requested when consent allows it. - What Google handles. When an ad loads, Google processes device and usage data to deliver and measure it, under Google's Privacy & Terms (https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads). I never receive any of that data. - Ad-free. The optional Remove Ads purchase turns off ad requests entirely — the ad slots are removed from the app. PURCHASES The app offers a single in-app purchase (Remove Ads). The purchase, payment, and restore flow is handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. I never see your name, payment details, or transaction data. DATA RETENTION AND DELETION Your quotes, statistics, preferences, and consent choice exist only on your device — I have nothing to delete, because I never had it. Uninstalling the app removes all of it permanently. Data processed by Google when ads load is governed by Google's policies and retention practices. WHAT THE APP DOES NOT DO - It doesn't require or create an account. - I don't run any analytics of my own, and the app doesn't track you. Google's ad SDK does process aggregate, non-personalized ad-performance data on its side when a banner loads — that's covered under Advertising above, and it's never linked to your identity. - It doesn't use App Tracking Transparency and never reads the IDFA. - It doesn't run any servers of its own, and it doesn't send your data to me. - It doesn't collect your name, email, location, contacts, photos, or any other personal information — unless you choose to email me for support, in which case you're sharing whatever you put in that email, the same as any email. - It doesn't share, sell, or rent any data. NOTIFICATIONS If you enable the optional daily quote notification, it's scheduled entirely on your device using Apple's local notification system. No data about your notification settings ever leaves your device. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY The app isn't directed specifically at children. I don't knowingly collect information from anyone — including children — because I don't collect information at all. Ad requests are always non-personalized, as described above. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top will change too. Any future change to the app's data practices will be reflected here before it ships, not after.
